Avengers Endgame: Encore Box Office China Day 1: Registers 6th Biggest Opening For Any Comic Book Movie Post-COVID
Avengers: Endgame Encore was released in theaters on September 25. The film is a re-release with a few additional minutes of footage linking it to the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. The excitement around the re-release was massive among Marvel fans. The Marvel universe has a massive fan following, especially in Asian countries. In China, the film performed like a new release and surpassed the opening-day totals of several superhero films.

The Marvel film had seen impressive advance collections at the Chinese box office. It behaved just like a new release and has surpassed the opening-day collections of several superhero films in China. The reissue earned a strong $7 million on its opening day, with 75K screenings. The opening-day collections also include $951K earned from Thursday previews.
Endgame Encore scored the 6th biggest opening day for any CBM (comic book movie) post-COVID. In comparison, Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned $35 million, Venom: The Last Dance earned $9.4 million, Deadpool & Wolverine scored $8.6 million, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 earned $7.4 million. Meanwhile, Endgame Encore has surpassed the opening-day collections of WW84 ($6.8 million), Quantumania ($6.1 million), Aquaman 2 ($5.1 million), The Flash ($4.2 million), The Marvels ($4.2 million), Across The Spider-Verse ($4 million), and The Batman ($3.7 million).
Weekend Prediction For Encore In China
Meanwhile, the film has already collected $1.2 million in advance sales for Day 2. The screening count will also be increased to 76K. At the current pace, the film is aiming for a $13-$16 million 3-day opening weekend. This would be below Avatar’s re-release opening weekend of $21.2 million back in 2021. However, the film can beat the re-release opening weekend of Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone ($13.7M).
