Indian journalist and former parliamentarian Pritish Nandy passed away at his residence in Mumbai on January 8. He reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest. His funeral took place on Wednesday evening.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher took to social media to pay tribute to his close friend. He wrote, “Deeply deeply saddened and shocked to know about the demise of one of my dearest and closest friends #PritishNandy! Amazing poet, writer, filmmaker and a brave and unique editor/journalist! He was my support system and a great source of strength in my initial days in Mumbai. We shared lots of things in common. He was also one of the most fearless people I had come across. Always Larger than life. I learnt so many things from him. Off-late we didn’t meet much.”
Pritish Nandy has almost 40 books to his name. He also translated poems from other languages such as Urdu, Bengali, and Punjabi to English. Besides being a writer, Nandy served as the Publishing Director of The Times of India group. Moreover, he was a Rajya Sabha member and was elected as a part of the then-united Shiv Sena.
