Nani is currently promoting his upcoming movie HIT: The Third Case, alongside Srinidhi Shetty. While dressed in a black, white and red caricatured T-shirt and flaunting his salt-and-pepper look, Nani sat with Filmfare for a tête-à-tête about the HIT franchise, his role and the newest trends in box office.

As pan-Indian films have been dominating the charts lately, Nani was asked if he believes that box office success happens with a strict formula. The actor said, ” If there is (a formula), I think everybody would follow that. And there are some great film makers, great production houses failing.” Adding to it, Nani noted that the biggest production houses or filmmakers, who are failing to make a mark lately, would know the formula better than the newcomers. “Seniors, who did a lot of blockbusters, are unable to deliver successes. That only says that there is no formula. And if you look for formula, if you try to understand the formula and stick to it, then you will have to fall at some point,” he shared.

Opening up about HIT: The Third Case, Nani shared his take on the character. When asked if Arjun Sarkaar has traits of Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh or Ranvijay Singh (Animal), he said, “Not really. Nothing of that genre or style. Everything is very different altogether.”

However, he added, “HIT 3 is very different from the previous movies of the franchise. It is very different because one and two are ‘whodunit’ kind of films. And the third one is not really ‘who.’ It is a ‘how’ kind of a film. There is a lot of intrigue there. You want to know what happens next, but it does not come from a place where in the climax you will reveal who. It is not that kind of a thriller. It is a kind of thriller that intrigues you about how it is going to unfold.”

HIT: The Third Case is releasing in the theatres on May 1, 2025.
