Yash’s fans might have to wait a little longer for the release of his upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Earlier, the film was slated to release on March 19 before being pushed to June 4 due to the situation in the Middle East. However, the release date has been postponed once again.

And now, we’ve learnt that the film is eyeing an Independence Day weekend release. If that happens, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups could clash at the box office with Batwaara 1947 starring Sunny Deol and Awarapan 2 featuring Emraan Hashmi.

As source close to the development stated, “Makers of Yash’s Toxic have been thinking hard about a global release strategy for quite some time now. Everyone, including Yash seem to be excited about the Independence Day release date. Yes, there will be a probable clash with Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 and even an Emraan Hashmi movie, but the long weekend, around August 15 might just prove to be a fruitful time to release a big, impact movie like Toxic. There just might be enough time during that weekend for multiple releases to find their way with the audience.”

Meanwhile, Yash also opened up about the delay surrounding Toxic. In his latest interaction with Variety, the KGF star explained why the action entertainer’s release has taken longer than expected.

Yash, who is also one of the producers of Toxic, shared that there is a major difference between the Indian and Western release systems. According to him, films in the West are usually completed and locked before marketing begins. Studios there also finalize release dates much earlier.

He added that overseas distributors generally do not buy theatrical rights unless they watch the finished product first. Since massive investments are involved, nobody wants to take risks.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic stars Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth, among others. Apart from Toxic, Yash is also preparing for Ramayana.
