Yami Gautam has asked the media to refrain from using artificial intelligence to alter or enhance her pictures from public appearances. She took to X (formerly Twitter) to write that such changes should not be made without an individual’s knowledge and consent.

Her post read, “A sincere request to the media. Please refrain from using AI to alter or enhance my photographs from public appearances. Kindly use images in original form. Altering or manipulating an individual’s image or likeness using AI should not be done without their knowledge and consent. Thank you in advance for respecting my request!”

The actor’s post comes at a time when the use of AI to manipulate photographs, videos and other forms of digital content has become an increasingly contentious issue. Celebrities have raised concerns over their faces, voices and likenesses being digitally altered or used to create content that they have neither participated in nor approved.

The issue has come into sharper focus in recent days following an AI-manipulated video involving Janhvi Kapoor. A digitally altered version of the Devara: Part 1 song Chuttamalle, featuring Kapoor alongside Jr NTR in the original, surfaced online with explicit imagery that was not part of the original video. Jr NTR condemned the video and said legal action would be taken, while actors including Chiranjeevi and Vijay Deverakonda also spoke out against the misuse of AI.
