Alia Bhatt recently spoke out about the devastating floods in Assam, drawing attention to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the state. Highlighting that the region faces floods every year, the actress noted that despite the recurring tragedy, it continues to catch people off guard.

She wrote, “Right now, floods are affecting so many parts of our country with Assam being among the hardest hit, facing an incredibly challenging time. More than 60 lives have been lost. Lakhs of people have been displaced. Entire families have lost their homes, their land, their livestock… and for some, even the people they love. It happens every year and it still catches us off guard. Assam needs immediate relief right now, and it’ll need support for the long road to recovery. Papon had shared an emotional appeal, urging people across India and the world to extend support to Assam as the state battles one of its worst flood disasters in recent years. The Assam-born musician shared a video on social media, drawing attention to the scale of the devastation and calling for immediate humanitarian assistance for thousands of families left homeless by the calamity.

Meanwhile, as per recent reports, 75 people have been died in the floods. The floods have affected seven districts – Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, Sonitpur and Kamrup (Metropolitan).
