Ranabaali Trailer Likely On October 8 Divine Element Nearly Confirmed
Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali is inching closer to its trailer launch. Buzz suggests that the trailer will arrive on October 8, a full week before the film hits theatres on October 16.
Titular character and the real-life references
Vijay, known for Arjun Reddy, plays Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali. The character is modelled on the 19th-century Palegars of Rayalaseema. Names such as Budda Vengal Reddy, Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy and Gadekal Bobbili Nagireddy have been cited by the makers. They were chieftains and local rebel leaders whose stories continue to be narrated by Seema folk singers to this day.

“People sing legends about them even today,” director Rahul Sankrityan says. The Shyam Singha Roy maker began with Nagireddy’s persona. Nagireddy was a consummate horse rider. Legend has it that he could communicate with deities, and he was killed in a conspiracy. This could suggest that Vijay’s character, too, may become a martyr as a result of a conspiracy.
Another chieftain, whose life has partially inspired the character, was known as a philanthropist of sorts. The director drew inspiration from their macho and muscular personas while shaping Ranabaali.
The supernatural element
The film is now nearly confirmed to carry a supernatural element, considering Nagireddy’s real-life story has been used in building Vijay’s character. The teaser hinted at it, too. A major stretch of the film is expected to bring in the divine, adding another layer to the rebellion saga.

The story unfolds in the 1870s, when a severe famine had struck the Madras Presidency. The suffering of the people under British rule forms the backdrop. One highlight is reportedly a 16-minute episode leading up to the climax. It is said to be among the most anticipated stretches of the film. Expect the trailer to offer a glimpse of the scale of this rebellion.
Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead, and her character, too, is a fictional protagonist. The song Endhayya Saami brought out the sensuous chemistry between the lead pair. The Ajay-Atul duo, known for composing the music of Adipurush, has scored the film’s soundtrack.
