Jailer 2 North America Box Office: Recovers 31% Of Its Breakeven Target On Opening Day Itself!
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 set the cash registers ringing at the North American box office (USA and Canada) on its opening day. While premieres looked a bit underwhelming, considering massive pre-release expectations, the magnum opus covered it up really well with a solid day 1. How much did Jailer 2 earn at the North American box office on day 1?
The Tamil action-comedy thriller grossed $1.43 million through premiere shows. Since early reactions were favorable, it witnessed a good crowd on the Thursday opening day. It has been learned that the film posted around $635K on its actual day 1, bringing the overall opening-day collection to a solid $2.065 million, or $2.06 million, at the North American box office. In Indian rupees, it equals 19.61 crore.
Out of $2.06 million, the USA contributed $1.72 million, while Canada contributed $343K. Speaking of the language-wise breakdown, Jailer 2 grossed $1.74 million in the original Tamil version, followed by $321K in Telugu. In Hindi, it earned just $4K.
Recovers 31% of its breakeven target already
For those who don’t know, the revised breakeven target of Jailer 2 is $6.5 million in North America, which is 61.73 crore in Indian rupees. While the number looks bigger, the film has recovered a significant portion of the target on the opening day itself. As mentioned above, it opened at $2.06 million, thus recovering 31.69% of its break-even target on the first day itself.
Given favorable audience feedback, weekend advances are strong, and the film is expected to reach close to 70% of its break-even in the first four days. In the long run, it is expected to generate good profits for distributors.
