Suriya 47 Wraps Production BTS Video Offers First Glimpse of The Actors New Look
Suriya’s next outing with director Jithu Madhavan has crossed a major milestone. Earlier this Thursday, the makers announced that principal photography on the tentatively titled Suriya 47 has officially been completed. The update was shared by Zhagaram Studios, which also confirmed that the film will arrive in theatres soon, although an exact release date is yet to be revealed. The team is expected to unveil the film’s title and first look on July 23, coinciding with Suriya’s birthday.
Shoot comes to an end with a behind-the-scenes surprise
Accompanying the announcement was a behind-the-scenes video that offers fans a peek into the making of the film. While the video largely focuses on moments from the set, it also includes a brief but striking glimpse of Suriya sporting a stylish new look with sunglasses. The announcement post also tagged Netflix India South, strongly indicating that the streaming platform has secured the film’s digital rights following its theatrical run.
The film stars Nazriya Nazim and Naslen alongside Suriya, making it the first time the three actors have collaborated. It also marks Jithu Madhavan’s first directorial venture in Tamil after making a name for himself in Malayalam cinema with Romancham and the blockbuster Aavesham.
Jithu Madhavan and Sushin Shyam reunite once again
Jithu Madhavan has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting filmmakers to emerge from Malayalam cinema in recent years. His directorial debut, Romancham, became a sleeper hit before Aavesham turned into one of the biggest commercial successes of 2024, powered by Fahadh Faasil’s memorable performance. Apart from directing, Jithu has also penned films including Painkili and Balan: The Boy.
Speaking about Suriya 47 earlier, the filmmaker had revealed that the project has been designed primarily for Tamil audiences. While the makers are yet to disclose the film’s story, industry reports suggest that Suriya plays an eccentric police officer who leads an equally unconventional team of cops. The combination of Jithu’s offbeat storytelling style and Suriya’s screen presence has made the project one of the actor’s most anticipated films.

The film also marks composer Sushin Shyam’s debut in Tamil cinema. The musician reunites with Jithu Madhavan after crafting acclaimed albums for Romancham and Aavesham. Songs like Aadharanjali and Aathmave Poo from Romancham, along with the chartbuster Illuminati from Aavesham, have only heightened expectations for their latest collaboration.
Apart from Suriya, Nazriya and Naslen, the makers have not officially announced the complete cast and crew. With filming wrapped and post-production now underway, fans can expect more updates, including the film’s title, teaser and release date, in the coming weeks.
